Amanda Ton kovich has worked for 15 years in the field of gender-based viole nce. She is passionate about providing dynamic\, trauma-informed support t o individuals and communities impacted by sexual assault\, human trafficki ng and intimate partner abuse. Amanda was instrumental in developing the N ew Orleans 24/7 Medical Advocacy program\, the New Orleans Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Action C oalition. Amanda is the current co-director at Beyond Harm\, which provide s interventions to people who have caused domestic and sexual violence\, a nd also provides counseling\, consulting and training through her LLC. Ama nda serves on the Louisianan Crime Victims Reparations Board and the Louis ianan Statewide Sexual Assault Oversight Commission.

Ashley Comegys is a licensed clinical social w
orker with a multi-state online therapy practice that helps women with anx
iety navigate life transitions\, such as motherhood\, grief\, trauma\, and
loss. She holds an MSW from Tulane University as well as a certificate in
disaster mental health. Additionally\, she is a certified perinatal menta
l health provider\, who specializes in working with women experiencing per
inatal mood and anxiety disorders. Throughout her career Ashley has worked
extensively with client’s who have experienced trauma across their lifesp
an\, including experiences such as community violence\, traumatic grief\,
hurricane and weather related trauma\, and medical trauma.
In this CEU\, we will learn to identify the differences b etween clinical diagnosis of acute stress response and post-traumatic stre ss response. We will examine three strategies to help participants prepare for working with clients who have experienced trauma related to a hurrica ne. Participants will learn to identify unique triggers associated with hu rricane trauma reactions. We will also discuss three clinical tools/modali ties/techniques to use to treat trauma. Finally\, we will explore tools to help support clinicians in caring for themselves while treating hurricane trauma.

nd evidence about prevention tactics that are demonstrated to reduce attem
pts and completion of suicide. We will differentiate factors of chronic su
icidal ideation\, acute ideation\, and self harm. We will look at diagnose
s with higher incidence of suicide and other contributing factors. Through
a relational lens\, We will carefully consider the therapeutic role\, res
ponsibility and limitations in preventing suicide. With self-reflection\,

In his role\, he offers d idactic\, research\, and experiential learning opportunities to Xavier Col lege of Pharmacy students\, pharmacy residents\, LSU and Tulane Psychiatry residents\, and XULA physician’s assistant program students. His educatio nal focus is on pharmacologic treatment of psychiatric and substance use d isorders as well as pharmacy ethics. Ashley Comegys is a licensed clinical social
worker with a multi-state online therapy practice that helps women with an

He currently serves as a Clinical Associate Professor at the Xavier Univ ersity of LA College of Pharmacy and holds a gratis appointment as Clinica l Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the LSU Health Science Center Depar tment of Psychiatry.

Blake Bascle\, LCSW\, BACS\, is depu ty chief of pre-trial juvenile diversion in the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office. He received a Bachelor of Psychology from the Universit y of New Orleans and a Master of Social Work from Tulane University. In hi s mental health career\, he has been a p sychotherapist in private practice and the director of several free-standi ng Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization programs in both Alaba ma and Louisiana. In 2009 he joined the Families in Need of Services (FINS) staff with the Jefferson Parish Juveni le Court. In March 2013\, the Jefferson Parish D.A. recruited him for his current position. In 2017\, he rece ived the Harry Wexler Innovator Award from National TASC (Treatment Accountabil ity for Safer Communities) for his work in juvenile justice reform. We focus on the therapist’s role as a “Secure Base” for the client. The “No-Secrets” policy and the “Shared Agency” principles are designed to strengthen the therapeutic alliance in complex systems. Appraisal of the individual is addressed through the Pol y-Map Case Formulation and the HEARTS Audit. Ethics are the “spine” of this presentation. We move from “do no harm” (avoiding pathologizing) to “beneficence” (actively supporting the client’ s chosen structure).
