The presentation will address the medications associated wit
h various disorders in DSM-5\, including chemical dependency. It will also
cover data surrounding the medications in the treatment of these disorder
s. This workshop will provide a review of the counselor and social worker
role in medication experience for clients. The goal of this session is to gain a be
tter grasp on how medications play a role in the behaviors and feelings th
at an individual can experience in their daily lives.

Dr. Thomas Maestri is a native of New Orleans
and a 2014 grad of Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA) College of Pharm
acy. He is one of only four board certified psychiatric clinical pharmacy
specialists (BCPP) in Louisiana. He currently serves as a Clinical Associa
te Professor at the Xavier University of LA College of Pharmacy and holds
a gratis appointment as Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the
LSU Health Sciences Center Department of Psychiatry. In his role\, he offe
rs didactic\, research\, and experiential learning opportunities to Xavier
College of Pharmacy students\, pharmacy residents\, LSU Psychiatry reside
nts\, Tulane Psychiatry residents\, and XULA physician’s assistant program
students. His educational focus is on pharmacologic treatment of mental h
ealth and addictive disorders as well as pharmacy ethics. His current prac
tice site is in consult addiction and psychiatry services at Ochsner Medic
al Center. He also offers community outreach by providing harm reduction s
ervices such as naloxone distribution\, lockable pill bottles\, drug deact
ivation kits\, and wound care as a means of combatting the opioid epidemic
and promoting safe practices in medication use to the community.

(Bowlby\, Ainsworth)\, specifically as it is expanded for multi-partner s
ystems through the Nested Model of Attachment and the HEARTS framework. Th
e content explores how attachment needs evolve across the lifespan—from ch
ildhood caregivers to the adult “Secure Base” provided by romantic partner
s. Motonormativity is examined as a dominant cultural script and explores
the historical and economic drivers behind the emergence of ENM. We focus
on the therapist’s role as a “Secure Base” for the client. The “No-Secrets
” policy and the “Shared Agency” principles are designed to strengthen the
therapeutic alliance in complex systems. Appraisal of the individual is a
ddressed through the Poly-Map Case Formulation and the HEARTS Audit. Ethic
s are the “spine” of this presentation. We move from “do no harm” (avoidin
g pathologizing) to “beneficence” (actively supporting the client’s chosen
structure). \n\nVeronica Mollere\, LCSW-BACS is a trauma specialist with
15 years of experience proving that secure attachment is not a zero-sum ga
me. She blends rigorous clinical theory with a passion for ENM\, helping c
lients navigate multi-partner systems with grounded nervous systems and op
en hearts. She has advanced trainings in EMDR\, Deep Brain Reorienting\, C
linical Hypnotherapy\, and Ego State Therapy. In 2021\, Veronica founded W
ell Psychotherapy in New Orleans to meet the overwhelming need for quality

DESCRIPTION:Sandbox Play therapy is a trauma informed interpersonal form of
therapy used with children from ~1-5 years old (or older) in order to eng
age the relationship while engaging the sensory system in calm sand play.
Sandbox play is a world of discovery in which the counselor and child enga
ge in floor time play and build attachment. Sandtray Play therapy is an ex
pressive and projective mode of counseling involving the unfolding and pro
cessing of INTRA and INTER personal issues through the use of specific sym
bolic miniatures & materials\, as non-verbal mediums of communication\, le
d by the client and facilitated by a trained professional. Sandtray Play t
herapy is Trauma Informed and we will discuss best practices\, as such\, i
n this presentation. Participants will be supplied with their own portable
sandtray with lid and minitare basic starter kit to use during the event
and to take home with them!! \n\nDr. LeAnne Steen is the Director and Foun
der of the Play Therapy Center for Education & Research at Loyola Universi
ty New Orleans. Dr. Steen is an Associate Professor in the Department of C
ounseling (and Department Chair). Dr. Steen developed multiple courses in
play therapy at Loyola. She also enjoys presenting extensively on many top
ics related to play and activity therapy\, child-parent relationship thera
py\, parent consultation\, and clinical play therapy consultation. She com
pleted her Ph.D. in Counselor Education at the University of North Texas w
here she specialized in play therapy\, counselor supervision\, child-paren
t relationship therapy (filial therapy)\, and activity therapy. Dr. Steen’

reater New Orleans is proud to offer a support group for our adolescent LG
BTQ+ community! This group will provide a safe\, confidential\, and suppor
tive space for adolescents who identify as LGBTQ+\, or who are questioning
their identity\, to explore the impact of sexual orientation and gender i
dentification on their lives. Participants will learn coping and communic
ation skills to assist identity development and improve resiliency. Our go
al is for teens to leave the group feeling empowered and able to develop p
eer support within their own communities. This group is open to teens ages
13-18. $40 for all 8 sessions.
In this workshop we will review som
e startling findings\, backed by current research\, that indicate which fa
ctors influence therapeutic outcomes.\n
