Jessica Bertsch, LCSW, BACS, is a Certified IFS Therapist and Program Assistant with the IFS Institute, bringing extensive experience in applying Internal Family Systems in clinical practice. She has spent over a decade working in agencies and schools, supporting children and families impacted by community violence, and now offers therapy services through her private practice. Jessica creates a compassionate, collaborative space where clients can explore their inner parts, heal from trauma, and deepen self-understanding. Her work integrates IFS with trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches to support lasting growth and healthier relationships. In addition to her clinical work, Jessica is a local artist who weaves themes of healing and self-discovery into her visual art.

This CEU will be an experiential introduction to Internal Family Systems therapy, exploring parts, protectors, exiles, and Self through didactic teaching, guided exercises, and live demonstration.

Youth Mental Health First Aid 

The Youth Mental Health First Aid course focuses on recognizing the patterns of thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and appearance that indicate the possibility  of mental health challenge, rather than focusing on specific illnesses. By the end of the course, learners will be able recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health or substance use challenges that may impact youth, explain the impact of traumatic experiences and the role of resilience on adolescent development, apply the appropriate steps of the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan (ALGEE) in noncrisis and crisis scenarios and Practice appropriate methods for self-care following the application of YMHFA in a noncrisis or crisis situation.

In this CEU, participants will gain a biological understanding of how addiction impacts the brain and the subsequent utilization of psychosocial, cognitive and emotional interventions leading to sustained and measurable recovery. 

Barry Pilson, PhD/LCSW, received his masters and doctorate from Tulane University School of Social Work. He received a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, graduating with Honors and Distinction. He has been in private practice over 30 years, taught as an adjunct professor at Tulane University and has presented numerous workshops over the years. Before entering private practice he worked at various agencies including 10 years as a program/clinical director for inpatient addictive treatment, mostly focused on substances.
