Understanding and Supporting the Perinatal Period will review common and typical developmental milestones and challenges of conception, pregnancy, birth, and early parenting for birth parents and partners. We will also discuss perinatal loss and infertility. We will review community interventions and professional evidence-based screenings and interventions.

 

Bess Hart, MA is a Perinatal Mental Health Specialist and a Birth & Postpartum Doula. She has spent 15 years as a social worker working in reproductive health, with a special focus on perinatal mood and anxiety disorder and perinatal loss. She has a private practice in New Orleans, where she is also raising her 3 children. Bess is a board-certified member of the Louisiana Chapter of Postpartum Support International and facilitates monthly Stillbirth & Infant Loss support groups.
