This workshop will be gently interactive while participants learn about (or more about) and experience a new model, Mussar. It will include meditations, stories, and other fun activities. Mussar provides a fresh lens to examine many counseling concepts. The workshop will specifically examine the trait of Order and how it affects our lives as well as the place of Order in diagnosis of disorders.

Understanding and Supporting the Perinatal Period will review common and typical developmental milestones and challenges of conception, pregnancy, birth, and early parenting for birth parents and partners. We will also discuss perinatal loss and infertility. We will review community interventions and professional evidence-based screenings and interventions.
Bess Hart, MA is a Perinatal Mental Health Specialist and a Birth & Postpartum Doula. She has spent 15 years as a social worker working in reproductive health, with a special focus on perinatal mood and anxiety disorder and perinatal loss. She has a private practice in New Orleans, where she is also raising her 3 children. Bess is a board-certified member of the Louisiana Chapter of Postpartum Support International and facilitates monthly Stillbirth & Infant Loss support groups.

Amanda Tonkovich has worked for 15 years in the field of gender-based violence. She is passionate about providing dynamic, trauma-informed support to individuals and communities impacted by sexual assault, human trafficking and intimate partner abuse. Amanda was instrumental in developing the New Orleans 24/7 Medical Advocacy program, the New Orleans Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Action Coalition. Amanda is the current co-director at Beyond Harm, which provides interventions to people who have caused domestic and sexual violence, and also provides counseling, consulting and training through her LLC. Amanda serves on the Louisianan Crime Victims Reparations Board and the Louisianan Statewide Sexual Assault Oversight Commission.
This presentation is aimed at professionals who work in clinical settings to develop more advanced skills for working with clients who are survivors of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). The presentation will cover the dynamics of Intimate Partner Violence and introduce trauma-informed and skillful ways to screen for, discuss and support clients who have experienced IPV. This presentation will also help participants navigate ethical and safety issues during and outside of the session.

Ashley Comegys is a licensed clinical social worker with a multi-state online therapy practice that helps women with anxiety navigate life transitions, such as motherhood, grief, trauma, and loss. She holds an MSW from Tulane University as well as a certificate in disaster mental health. Additionally, she is a certified perinatal mental health provider, who specializes in working with women experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. Throughout her career Ashley has worked extensively with client’s who have experienced trauma across their lifespan, including experiences such as community violence, traumatic grief, hurricane and weather related trauma, and medical trauma.
In this CEU, we will learn to identify the differences between clinical diagnosis of acute stress response and post-traumatic stress response. We will examine three strategies to help participants prepare for working with clients who have experienced trauma related to a hurricane. Participants will learn to identify unique triggers associated with hurricane trauma reactions. We will also discuss three clinical tools/modalities/techniques to use to treat trauma. Finally, we will explore tools to help support clinicians in caring for themselves while treating hurricane trauma.
