This workshop will examine the dynamics of sexual compulsive habits and the history of treatment approaches using disease concepts. We will discuss a new approach that utilizes habit cessation, lifestyle changes and couples work.

Learn the epidemiology of suicide, to identify warning signs of imminent suicide, the risk and protective factors associated with suicidal behavior, and how to best support those in crisis. We will specifically cover the social and cultural factors that can place an individual at risk of suicidal behavior. Participants will also learn about safety planning and effective suicide prevention plans.

This in-depth primer on addiction and mental health discusses client & team relationships, diagnosis & treatment, the DSM 5, co-concurrent disorders, and ethical concerns & dilemmas. We will address theoretical models with varied populations, including children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Chemical and behavioral addictions will be compared. The presentation will be given with sensitivity to and awareness of cultural, gender, sexual, and lifestyle differences in clients.
